About me; Shelby

When I was a young girl, probably around 8 years old, my grandpa took me out on a hike while we were camping. He brought his camera with him as he usually did and told me we were going to see something special today. We found a stump at the highest point of Flying Eagle Resort, and we just sat there for a while, listening to the sounds of the nature surrounding us. He snapped more pictures than I could count; some of me and some of the birds flying by, and some of what I thought were of just nothing.

I looked up at him confused and asked him, "Grandpa, why do you need so many pictures of the same old spot?" He looked down at me with what I can only describe as the saddest smile I'd ever seen and said, "as you grow older you will learn that with each moment that fades away, your memories will start to fade with them. Taking these pictures is the only way to capture your memories and take them with you, and sitting up here in the spot with you is a memory I never want to fade." Then he rustled up my hair and said it was time to head back for lunch.

At the time, I didn't know how much that moment would shape my life. My grandfather passed away a few short years later. He left behind so many wonderful memories and taught me so much, but the most memorable lesson I learned from his was that every moment you live is precious, and there's so much beauty in capturing those moments.

His name was Lenard but every one called him "Lenny" and so the name "Lens Perfect Photography" was inspired by him. I am a photographer not only because I can manipulate the light show of life to deliver beautiful images, but also because I have a fire in my heart to capture your memories so you can carry them with you forever.
